Wine Tour Itinerary:
Upon arrival in Chisinau, visit the wine bar&shop „Carpe Diem“ and enjoy evening in a nice atmoshphere with a glass of good wine. Have a pleasant dinner and wine tasting.
Overnight in Chisinau.
We’ll start this day with a Chisinaucity tour. During this tour you will get acquainted with the city history, will visit the historical part of our capital. Finally, we’ll make a stop at the monument Stephan the Great and Saint, the Bell Tower, the Triumph Arc, the Central Square and the Central Cathedral, the Parliament, the Presidency.
Later, have a wine tour in the underground tunnels of the wine-cellars. You’ll see a large wine collection and learnd about the wine-making process. The Integrated Factory Cricova is the only factory in Republic that produces sparkling wine through the classical French fermentation method –aging in bottles for up to 3 years.
Heading to Orhei region. Make a stop in Trebujeni village for lunch in traditional style.
Finally,disover the museum complex Orheiul Vechi – an impressive monastery complex that presents the remnants of different civilizations established between Nistru and Prut rivers. This is a cave complex comprising caves, grottos, churches, and hermitages.
Optional visit: Enoteca “INVINO” with unique personal collection of best wines of Moldova.
Overnight in Chisinau.
After breakfast, we’ll leave for the forests “Codrii”. Visit the 14th cent. Monastery “Capriana”, and the convent “Hancu”.
Capriana monastery was the headquarters of Moldova’s bishop for a long period of time. It was founded by the great Moldovan Ruler Stefan the Great. Closed and dilapidated during the post-war period, it was only reopened again in 1989, becoming a symbol of national revival.
The founder of the convent Hancu is a Moldovan nobleman Mihai Ginkul (Hincu), who built the nunnery at his daughter’s will. During the 18 th century it was destroyed for many times by Tatars and was totally neglected.
Later, we’ll take a visit to Milestii Mici winery and cellars. This is about the wines of various years’ crops, beginning with the 1968 to 1991. The “Golden Collection” of Milestii Mici contains over two million bottles of harmonious wines dating from the period of Moldavian wine making prosperity “Pinot”, “Traminer”, “Muscat”, “Riesling”, “Feteasca”, “Codru”, “Negru de Purcari”, “Trandafirul Moldovei”, “Auriu” and others.
You will pass by transport these 200 km of natural lime galleries.
After wine tasting and lunch at the winery, we proceed onto the village Puhoi for a wine tour in the winery “Asconi”.
Finally, we get back to Chisinau. Evening at leisure.
After breakfast, drive to Orhei region and explore a new area of professional wine-makers.
Firstly, we’ll visit Chateau Vartely Winery and Touristic Complex placed on a hill and opening an astonishing view on the town Orhei and vineyards.
You’ll surely enjoy the wines and meals in the winery restaurant.
Further, drive to a nearby village Clisova Noua. Visit the museum “Arta Rustica” where old national carpets and handicrafts articles carefully preserved with speacial love.
The museum owner will personally tell about the origin of each carpet and article. Some of the articles are for sale and you can take a piece of Moldova with you.
Finally, we arrive in Branesti village. Take a wine tour to the cellars Branesti where you’ll feel the atmosphere of our ancestors while walking in the stone galleries. In addition, you’ll taste wines in one of these stone galleries with massive oak tables and chairs.
Time at leisure. Free dinner. Overnight in Chisinau.
Depart Chisinau for a small family winery EtCetera. It’s placed in a village of Krokmaz close to the Ukrainian border. It’s a noble winery fo award-winning wines. Later, you’re expected to visit another famous winery Purcari –the oldest wine-estate in Moldova.
So, visit the production, grape processing and the wine storage areas, including bottle line. Walk into the cellars where the wine is matured in oak barrels and bottles, including the Purcari wine collection.
Back to Chisinau. Free dinner. Overnight in Chisinau.
Today, we say goodbye to Moldova and fly bakc home with lots of memorable emotions.
